Birthday Fun

I had such a good time today..... my birthday is actually May 5, but my family and I decided to celebrate early. First, we went to see a wonderful exhibit about the history of Texas, at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. I am a history buff, and LOVE to read about the past of my beloved home state! So you can imagine my delight and excitement as I got to see the sash worn by Sam Houston, stared at the spurs and coat worn by Santa Anna, and got a good close look at Davy Crockett's violin! (I am a fiddler, too, by the way, and how I wanted to hold that old instrument, tuck it under my chin, and put the bow to the strings) there were so many other amazing things; such as the "come and take it" cannon, original land grants and letters and documents, Native American artifacts, ancient Spanish coins, and many other relics from Texas' fascinating past..........

Then we went on to Galveston, where we had dinner and shopped on "The Strand". My sweet sister and brother-in-law bought me this gorgeous purse....... I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family! I am so thankful for them, for the unconditional love that I have been given all of my life..... I was adopted at birth, so I truly feel God Himself placed me exactly where He wanted me to be...... and I am so greatful, more than ever before, for my parents that raised me in God's Precious Truth!

I am looking forward to another year of serving Him.... when you walk with Jesus, every day is a joyful day! No matter what you are going through, He never lets you struggle alone..... He is always there to comfort and guide... and I know that this year will be no different! Praise His Name!

What a Beautiful Day for the Lord to Come Again

(Yet another photo of our Oklahoma reunion)
This song has been on my mind very strongly today.......
"What a Beautiful Day For the Lord To Come Again"
As I wake up with the morning
of each day that passes by
and I listen to the sounds upon my ears
I can't help but keep a watch
toward the Eastern sky
And I wonder if the trumpet
will be the next sound that I hear

What a beautiful day
for the Lord to come again
what a beautiful day
for Him to take His children home
How I long to see His face
and to touch his nail - scarred hands
What a beautiful day
for the Lord to come again

All my earthly disappointments
and my trials here below
Just fade away
When I remember His last words
He said He'd return and
Receive His Children unto Him
how I'm longing to look
upon the face of my Lord

"Written In Red"

(Our Choir is going to sing this song on Easter Sunday morning)
"Written in Red" by Gorden Jensen
In letters of crimson, God wrote His love
on a hillside, so long long ago
for you and for me, Jesus died
and love's greatest story was told
I Love you, I love you
That's what Calvary Said
I love you, I love You
I love you, Written in red
Down through the ages, God wrote His love
with the same hands that suffered and bled
Giving all that He had to give
A message so easily read
I love you, I love you
that's what Calvary said
I love you, I love you
I love you, Written in red
Oh Precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Thank You Dear Savior, for your Awesome Sacrifice. I love YOU...........
Comments are turned off today. Just enjoy the song! Best wishes for each of you dear friends!

Making Easter Cards....

(Click on pics for a closer peek, if you'd like)

I just love this time of year! A pretty new outfit for Sunday, lots of choir practice, learning new music, a wonderful dinner at the church, and, most of all, celebrating the Lord's awesome sacrifice and triumph over death, hell and the grave.........

I have added making Easter cards to the mix this year, and have happily been covered with Martha Stewart glitter all week, endulged in shopping through all the scrapbooking treasures and ribbon at Michael's and Hobby Lobby, and have just generally enjoyed trying to make something new......

How has your week been going? Have you made anything new? Whatever is going on your part of the world, I hope it's fun!
Most of all, please take the time to remember Who this Season is all about....

I Was So Glad!

(This is a photo I snapped today of some flowers on our patio)

What a wonderful Sunday! The sun shone brightly, the breeze blew gently, and, best of all, I went to the House of the Lord........ I got to talk with my Best Friend in the whole world..... and I rested and rejoiced in His dear Prescence..... I got to the Church in time for prayer before service this morning, and Jesus met me there! And then, during prayer time before evening service, He was there again in such a special way...... Oh the joy of His Spirit.... like cold, refreshing water in the desert....

And to think that He waits to hear from us.... to think that the Awesome God of the Universe actually enjoys communing with His creation.... What a Priviledge Prayer is! I Praise Him for that beautiful priviledge, God help me to never just take it for granted...

This Scripture has been in my heart today:

Psalm 122:1: "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD."

Before and After

(If you'd like a closer look, click on the photos)

I purchased this yellow and white swag at T.J. Maxx homegoods. I thought I could add something to it and make it really pretty.... So I added vibrant blue Hydrangeas, some other flowers, and also fashioned a bow with Blue-and-White Toile Ribbon, and some yellow sheer ribbon. The finishing touch was a sparkely button, for a bit of "Bling".

Well, I was going to put it on our door for Easter, but my sister has sweet - talked me into letting her have it..... Her home is getting freshly painted (yellow and white) as well as other updates, such as gingerbread trim. So I agree with her. I think this swag will look nice on her door....

A Spring Door Wreath

(Click on pics, if you'd like a closer peek)

My sister purchased a flower wreath, but felt it needed a little something; so she had me make a Bow for it, and tuck in some extra "pretties". I did the bow with multi - colored ribbons, and added a yellow rose (This is Texas, after all) *Smiles!*

(For those of you that may not know, the yellow rose is a signifigant part of Texas History)

I also added a green lady's boot, and a fancy purple bird....

I think the result was "Spring-y"....

Thanks for looking!
